David, could you enlighten us, please, on the SSS performance of A900?

I have no blurred shots kept but in 150 pix I checked about three or four in extreme conditions and erased them, and shot again, to get a sharper one - at photokina.

I would say as good as the A700 maybe better because of the larger frame area relative to the amount of shake. Same as with large format - most 'old' pros know you could hand-hold larger formats and expect sharper results (same print size assumed) because your body tremor might be 1mm or something, and stay the same whether you shot subminiature or a hand-held 5 x 4 (yes, I have had that - the Sinar Handy!). Rotational shake is equally bad on small and large formats, but rotational shake is generally found when using longer lenses - a symptom of the shape of 35mm SLRs with zooms - and with shutter releases on the camera top. The slightly angled position of most DSLR shutter buttons, a bit like the old Praktica 45 degree shutter release, helps reduce rotational shake.

I owned a Praktica camera like the one you said (I don't remember the model number) and I had a spare 29mm lens (yes, 29mm).

29mm f2.8 Orestor or Orestegon, later known as 29mm f2.8 Pentacon. Bigger and better, all round, than the 30mm f3.5 Meyer Lydith. Used both!

I have tried some night shot tonight with the 28mm F/2.0 and the A900 SSS

Here is the result.

I have almost of the time shot 3 times in a row (thanks to the 5fps). And i can say that it is about 1/3 to 2/3 shot that was stable, the other was little bit blur (but not has if i haven't use tripod).

The 28mm is not generating to much vignetting, and the corner to center sharpness is very good.

One with the old TAmron SP 15mm F/2.8 (bad story tonight about this lens ... i have not be too carefull: i have looking in front of my a big building ... and the front lens of the 15mm has touch the brick wall , three beautiful scratch on the front element now ..., but i think this will not to much affect quality ... i hope)
(some vignetting there ... but again not to much ... (easy to correct in PP ...)).

A practika was my first camera, some 235 years ago.
I have fond memories of it as it got me used to heavy cameras at a young age!
