Vapour Trails at Dusk

Unread post by Birma »

Driving home this evening the sun had set invisibly in the murk and mist, but it was still highlighting an interesting set of vapour trails left in the sky - it sure looks busy up there. I had the camera in the car and so I tried a few shots, and this one seemed to work best.

PP'd in IDC3 and then Elements.

(Despite my comment in Mike's Cafe thread, we did have a blue sky today here in Worcester so I take back my comments - come on late summer :D )

A different take from above, about 5 mins earlier, and a cooler looking image.

C&C welcome as always.

Nice thing you did changing your avatar.
As for the shots, I prefer the first one.

I like the second one, although I find the noise a bit disturbing :|

Thanks for your comments chaps. The first shot (ISO100) does look cleaner. Perhaps I'll have to start leaving the tripod in the car (until I get th a700 v4 with amazing ISO1600 :D .) I did try the noise reduction in IDC3 but after doing it I could suddently see what all of the "watercolour" chat was about. If I get a spare 5 mins I'll try and get #1 to look like #2, but with less noise.

Ok, attempt three. I have re. PP'd the first shot. Less PP and cooler looking, more like the second but hopefully less noise.

I think I'll only be happy once I go and re-shoot. Lets hope for clear skies tonight

Thanks chaps. It was very cloudy this evening meaning no more sunset pics so I'll stick with no. 3. I guess "less" is often "more" when it comes to PP.
