Each and every year the storks return to their same nest to give birth and stay till end of fall. If they stay at the beginning of winter than the weather and the climate will be mild.
You can see hundreds of nests on chimneys, poles and wherever suitable for building a nest. People never harm them and they are always welcomed.
Photography wise, you could just shoot them as close as 5 meters.

All shot in the Ararat valley (where Noah settled), in a village not far from the capital city of Yerevan

Storks always seem to be limited to warm places. We have never had them in Britain - not in living memory - yet the bird is as well known as our own species. I guess Aesop's fables, and the old wives' tale about the stork bringing babies, make it familiar to every child even if they never see a real live stork. Lovely shots.
