Tilt/shift TV ad

Unread post by Javelin »

Just saw an Allstate insurance company TV ad that was shot using a tilt/shift lens. It's a little weird seeing the effect in a video. but it's a static shot from a distance with lots of movement in and out of the in focus stripe going diagonally across the frame. I'm thinking it was done on a DSLR but it also has a stop motion look about it so I don't know. I didn't realize what I was looking at and was trying to figure out if the pickup truck was real when I realized what it was about the ad.

Heres a youtube link

I don't really like the time-lapse trend ...

Interesting. In the case of the "Little Berlin" video, the effect is as if shot by a cheaper P&S camera in Super Macro mode. I don't mind the time-lapse effect...I'd hardly say it's a trend since it mimics the slightly frantic-looking action in silent films from the dawn of cinema.

I found a concept car photo of the "5 by Peugeot" with a very good and subtle effect achieved by a T/S lens:
