I don't do fishing but took this in Portugal, the sea seemed very violent and they seemed oblivious to it

Oblivious...that's the word that applies to all fishermen. Good one, Gio67. :D

If not oblivious to weather or the sea conditions I don't think there would be anyone fishing in pure isolation fighting the giant waves and the wet cold, miles from anywhere out in the middle of the oceans. The chemistry of the fishermen is different indeed.

A holiday by the sea in Cornwall provides richer opportunities for fishing pictures than my normal land-locked locations. This picture was a chance encounter with a fisherman while I was out early one morning to catch the sunrise. I heard on the forecast that there may be some mist, and the resulting hazy sunrise provided some great colour. The small cove I chose to visit had another visitor who must have been there in the dark. This chap was catching some quite big fish, Pollock I think.

Wonderful...

A great silhouette against beautiful colours of the sky at sunrise. A determined fisherman for sure. : )

Thanks Yildiz :)

Here is a whole fishing boat, called Flying Spray, leaving the harbour at Charlestown near St. Austell in Cornwall just after sunrise.

Since the emphasis is on fly-fishing, here is one from a few years back. Fly-fishing on the Mooi River, Kwazulu-Natal.

Here is another indirect fishing shot. This pier is used by the small fishing boats in Mevagissey harbour in Cornwall. There was certainly a lot going on :)
