Hi all,

I would like to get a light stand to place an off camera flash upon and was thinking of getting a Manfrotto. I'm already thinking about getting the Manfrotto 026 Lite Tite Swivel + Umbrella Adaptor and a 33" Inch 84cm Pro STUDIO Umbrella Professional Photographic Translucent White Soft light Diffuser/ reflector (White).

However it gets very confusing looking at all the available stands on the Manfrotto website!

Is there a suitable stand that I can use for indoors and outdoors, light and small enough to carry around attached to the outside of my bag (unlike the Manfrotto tripod which has to be csrried around in its own bag!) but sturdy enough for outdoors. I would like to use it for my F58AM / F36AM.

Your advice as ever would be extremely helpful.

stands for outdoors are necessarily big in te base. if you use an umbrella on it you'll understand why in pretty short order.

That stand is too light for outdoors -won't endure the wind if you have a small softbox or umbrella.
I have one of these stands (I don't recall now witch one...)

BTW, Manfrotto is an excellent brand, just a little too expensive. With a little bit of care, this Adorama (Brand X) stands will last forever.

No UK (or European...) store for Adorama -alas because I would love going back to Europe for a couple of years (ONLY a couple of years and with a job...) but you can find similar stands on eBay or at your local dealer, like Calumet. My remark was mostly because, if you count on working outdoors, you'll need a bigger/sturdy stand that the one Kevin recommended.

Alas, I'm a Welshman stuck in England. However, it isn't all bad, we do have some great friends here.

I don't like buying from Ebay so I will search for Calumet products.
