Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
Yes I can't remember in the old days when Barry F, Ken_5D, Sonolta and Dayo were slugging out over at dpr (and I mean slugging it out) any or much intervention from the mods. I've probably missed a large chunk of the happenings on the Sony DSLR forum, having being only recently going over now and then too check what's happening when it's quiet here.
The direct staff postings on the forum explaining their point of view is something I don't remember seeing much of, or hardly any of, in the past.

All I can say is welcome Danjojo-Resurrected... and in one word, oh how I hate Canon
Though it's years now that I don't get in canonreview errr I mean dpreview, so not knowing you, but I have a strong hunch that we might learn a lot from you (selfish me
)
Anyway, today is Thomas' birthday (bossel) so cheer up and enjoy a drink
Welcome again

Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
I've read many of your Wilson's Landscape posts, and I didn't see anything overly rude, and certainly not vulgar. This just syncs up with what I heard about someone else that was banned. People are being banned at DPR apparently just because they criticize the official DPR review. I don't know why they are so thin-skinned, but I guess they can afford to lose Sony fans.Danjojo_Resurrected1 wrote:I posted on DPReview as Danjojo and was banned for supporting the aNEX cameras against all the b.s. and exaggerations. I was e-mailed asking if I work for Sony and also told "try posting in a way that doesn't make us look bad"
....
Just don't post over there saying you are a professional photographer who believes the NEX is a good design and useful for pro and casual user...you will feel like you are surrounded by a SWAT team very quickly.
Although some of your posts were overly positive -- a bit "fanboyish" sounding -- so what? If that was your crime, the punishment of banning seems to be harsh. I mean, if you can't debate on the merits of the argument, all you have left is a ban, I suppose. But a lot can come out of a fun debate. DPR should love the attention... more eyeballs on the board, more ads viewed. (And it's not as if they don't have a lot of Sony ads too.)
As for other boards, Dyxum doesn't like the Nex. Or, at least they say that it isn't the same mount, so it's not for their board. So, where do we go to chat about the new system? I admire David K. for at least giving the new system a fair chance. (And a spot in the forum!)

Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
The good old days were lively debates at times a bit strong but whilst there was disagreement and the odd punch thrown now and then..it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the disturbing and frankly gutter posting by some fanboys on that forum. In the past I had personal hate emails and comments that cannot be posted on any forum!
DPR decided to make it a fanboy only zone mostly..and I found it frankly hilarious when their NEX review came along and it was the very same people they were supporting who were tearing them apart at the seams. So much for "nice Alpha forum" minus a few posters. Have to say the DPR mods/team deserved every last body blow they got if for no other reason than doing a pretty nasty job on c*nsorsh*p - gotcha!. And that's even if I agree with their reviews too
Still it was a complete waste of time anyway..I do think the Alpha forum on DPR is not that useful for many posters. DPR has censored debate there. Ah the good old days eh? lol

Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
I think it might be that [complaint] button under each post window, that might be getting a lot of use nowdays, if a whole bunch of the more Sony protective sort complain about a particular poster often enough I guess they will do something about it, and it seems the mods also now scan the threads more actively than in the past. The anti NEX review reaction was amazing...

Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
Thank you for the welcome.
I know some things might have seemed a little "fanboyish" but is basically how I see it, might of added a little extra flavor just to bite back at some of the off the wall "we don't like it and you shouldn't like it either!!" type of posts...
It is funny the replies you can get, if you say something to the degree of....the NEX cameras are very unique in being the best low-light cameras short of full-frame, and they are less than half the size and less than half the price. People will quickly jump in "but they have no OVF" "For people who like gadgets" "might work for you, but not a camera for someone actually advanced!"
of course these are general summary of many posts saying the same things put together.
I really don't see the point of view where the cameras can not be a good value for what they provide...so that is where some of the fanboyism comes I guess. i can pick apart any camera at any price but it doesn't prove anything, but people still insist....

Henry! I was patiently waiting to see if you would say hello. Definitely one of my favorite posters from over there.
you would of liked my contribution to the thread better if you had seen the 3 or 4 posts that were deleted
I'll post the last one I was going to make since it is still sitting there in another window.

never said that
dpreview staff know who i am and why i am here.
details are details, facts is facts, but how you put all together in presentation can vary greatly.
as you see here http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readf ... d=35588919
people already seeing as my self and others have been reporting usability is not as bad as it is made to seem. you should have no issue in a day of photography with the NEX cams unless you just have issue in general.
you see people say the screen is not amazing in bright daylight, but when push hard to be more exact they agree the screen is the best the have seen on a camera in these conditions. its how you want to present the package. many will indeed decide to pick up a different camera when they would of probably been more happy with a NEX camera, but alas they were told to wait for next generation.
no need to wait for next generation if the size and capabilities appeal to you now
we can't dictate outcome others come up with but i still see it as a boo boo lost in translation, aNEX is better than some review or article show
lovely photographs of the product on most articles though
"
Knowing how things are, that would of probably resulted in a ban, but of course prematurely received one anyway.

Is that sincere or are you just being sarcastic? Hello!Danjojo_Resurrected1 wrote:Henry! I was patiently waiting to see if you would say hello. Definitely one of my favorite posters from over there.![]()
I guess I totally missed them. I check from time to time, but typically don't sit for hours checking. I guess they got deleted before I saw them.Danjojo_Resurrected1 wrote: you would of liked my contribution to the thread better if you had seen the 3 or 4 posts that were deleted![]()
Okay, I'll bite. Who are you and why were you there? Are you implying you are not just a photography enthusiast and you were not there just to pick up new info, interact with people with similar interests, etc.? That is a confusing and rather pregnant statement so it makes me curious what you mean by it.Danjojo_Resurrected1 wrote: never said thatdpreview staff know who i am and why i am here.

I agree, Pako. I too had a Dimage A1; it took a while to learn, but I loved it. There are signs that this may also be true about the NEX UI: not the easiest UI to learn, but very fast & fun once learned. As you say, we'll know soon.pakodominguez wrote:Hello and Welcome,--Laxe-- wrote: Really I think those who are lamenting it because they can't change iso in a split second are really clutching at straws especially since Sony have said that the product isn't aimed towards them...
The problem with interfaces (mix of buttons and graphic things...) is not how good, bad, easy, complicated, savvy or newbie oriented it is, but how fast and well you can learn how to use it. That's beyond ergonomics and it's call heuristic.
The Dimage 7/A series was a great example: lots of intimidating buttons, but after a week using it, everybody (newbies included) loved this cameras.

Short version of it, had a relatively small e-mail conversations with Mr. Butler saying I am just another photographer who believes the bad impressions were a little over the top and premature. That I think it would be a great street photography camera, back up landscape camera, and perfectly usable for versatile consumer camera for people in the market... and would post my thoughts and feelings presenting that case without being a top-secret agent hired by Sony.
Instead of highlighting the good they choose to highlight the bad and I didn't agree with that. They recommend to consumers but obviously have no clue what the consumers actually want. TONS of people would like some thing better than a compact provides but are intimidated by size, price, many buttons, etc. and Sony finally addressed it better than anybody else in a long time. To discard all of that over a few UI dislikes or perceived issues is quite ridiculous.
Mostly a one sided conversation but he just apologized and lifted the ban....then a few days later another one came out of the blue. Even had several posts not related to NEX removed, not sure why.
Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
Ok, I've not been spending much time on dpr lately, but ... My favorite bit on dpr lately is where someone complained about needing to change iso often, and Walt basically said that was a sign of an ameteur. And the guy obviously portrayed himself as a pro. Zing! Stop holding back, Walt - tell us how you really feel!
So, yeah, dpr has been painful, but sometimes entertaining.

Dpr a long time ago removed a couple of posts of mine also, I was in a discussion about flash issues with some over there, and basically they didn't know what they were talking about, whereas I do happen too know what I'm talking about when it comes to flash, these other posters must have taken exception too my post and got it removed for some reason, so I know where you are coming from Danjojo.
Did you ask for an explanation for the latest ban/c*nsorsh*p - gotcha!?. (I didn't bother with mine I just sortof stopped participating over there as much, in any case the banning of DK at around that time was a sore point as well).
Greg
ps Why is the word c e n s o r s h i p subject to some sort of intervention here???

Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
True enough Pako. Apparently the UI was designed by the Sony Phone team which explains a lot! Personally I think these cameras will be a hit for the normal consumer. Even if they don't get new lenses, most likely they're busy enjoying the better image quality of the sensor than their old p&s. I found a NEX-5 demontration by Sony on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slNiltQiS5c In it the guy gives a quick overview of the menus which I found quite interesting! Can't wait to get my NEX-5 in silver now!Winedarksea wrote:I agree, Pako. I too had a Dimage A1; it took a while to learn, but I loved it. Re: Nex Cameras as reviewed by DPReview
Been looking for this document for a few weeks. Basically this is the linchpin research that started a whole new era for of gorilla internet marketing.
http://ebusiness.mit.edu/research/paper ... Forums.pdf
This was eventually refined by this student who then became a prof somewhere else. basically they can calculate how much and what kind of influense they can use to manipulate a forum to gain the desired outcome. the Author goes by Chris now.
I beleive the Sony forums were an attempt by Sony to mitigate the damge DPR forums could do, as the research says the more real users with postivive stories there are the less harmfull the poisoning can be.
A company like amazon whouldn't be interested in forums unless there was a way they could make real money on them .. thats all I'm saying.
