No live view on SAM 35mm

Unread post by CharlieWebster »

It's very nice to have a live aperture view with legacy lenses.

But this appears impoosible with SAM alpha lenses.

My 35mm f/1.8 will not close the aperture untill the shutter is depressed.

So what, you might ask.

Well in bright conditions, like snow, the view is completely blown out--to the point where MF is very hard.

It will shoot OK in A or S mode, though you just have to hope you are not beyond the parameters, in M mode, you are totally guessing.

I don't see a way around this, but maybe I'm missing something.

Funny enough the Emount 18-55 never blows out--well it's slow.

I have to say the same.

I don't know what settings I was using in the snow, but I just tested again and though the aperture does not close untill the shutter releases, the view dims as it should in M A and S modes when you go outside the parameters.

so, sorry about that, seems just fine now.

However, you still don't get full-time depth of field preview. That is why I prefer manual and e-mount lenses, and I sold my la-ea1.
