A few minutes spent on the hotel balcony with the loan camera before returning it:

Shirley is busy getting very tired and angry trying to transcribe the vague mutterings of Sony staff giving presentations - some of it clear, sometimes incomprehensible from a recording. Once she has done it, I will be editing the transcription up for another article.
Watch out soon (hopefully tonight) for 48 full size NEX5 in-camera JPEGs which will be going up in a gallery, I'll post the URL once they are available.

A whole shiney new forum - exciting days
Another interesting read David. You pointed out the strap attach-points on the Nex bodies - this seems such a sensible idea - why isn't this the position for dslrs as well?
(Is there any reason that "quick reply" isn't appearing in this forum?)

You are right, seven blades. They are so unsymmetrical in distribution I doubled the top half as visible. What a peculiar mechanism!

its probably something your not used to because now it's electronically actuated without steps between F-stops so it's continually variable,. I though all Minolta apertures were either 7 or 9 bladed though.

David, can you take stills while in video mode?

This function was not mentioned. You can certainly end a video clip and shoot a still, all you have to do it press the shutter release. But it does not return to shooting video afterwards. The quality of the video is supposed to be high enough to extract still frames better than Canon.

Thanks for the article. Interesting. I look forward to Sony fine tuning and evolving this sort of camera over time.
