LA-EA1 focusing routine badly flawed

CDAF focuses much better at greater DOF, as it then simply has more contrast to analyse. The native E-mount lenses do stop down during focusing as the available light permits, they try to focus wide open only in very poor light.
The A-mount lenses on adapter are never stopped down during the AF routine. And that is exactly the reason why they take so long to AF with Nex CDAF. I think, it's also the main reason why Sigma HSM lenses mostly cannot AF with the Nex+adapter at all.

So there's a good chance that a FW update could greatly improve the LA-EA1 AF functionality. The question, though, is whether Sony want that to happen...
