And it really does improve AF performance, it's now faster and doesn't get much confused with bright speculars.

So Agorabasta, can you now compare the improved NEX-5N with the current NEX-7 or is it likely that the NEX-7 will also receive a firmware upgrade in the near future?

SAR's buzzing around that date almost like a kid in a candy/toyshop. I bet we'll get disappointed.

I'm only planning to get a 7 in a few weeks, so can't really comment.

But I find it rather amazing that a series of single-press test snaps in bad mixed artificial light comes out all in perfect focus using 16mm @f/2.8...

Look forward to loading it when I get home. I hope they've sorted out the Mac installer so it runs in 64bit.

No they haven't. Restart you OS in 32bit mode, or just use a Windows machine.

Got it installed with no issues, other than having to restart my computer twice just to update camera firmware.

Good to hear that. Does the current NEX 7 firmware already have this AF improvement in it?

First chance to do some daylight testing and it is significantly quicker.

It practically leaps into focus now rather than the previous gentle stroll...
