I happened to be in D.C. in time for the cherry blossoms to arrive! These two photos were taken with the lowly 16-50, which makes a great travel lens.

I probably also used a polarizer on that 2nd one.

Beautiful shots. I like the framing in the first one especially :)

Thanks guys! It seems to me that there should have been plenty of opportunities for good framing, but let's just say that I went through a lot of photos to pick out these two. ;-)

Well, I am only partially kidding. I have a lot of photos that turned out well, but many are touristy and probably not of general interest. I dunno, I am still trying to go through them, and I'll have enough to make a photobook of the trip. (BTW, I don't quite like how most photobooks are done, but this is a separate topic....)

The Nex-6 makes a good travel camera (although, the Nex-5 is even more compact if you stick the 16mm lens on it), and even carrying a couple of extra lenses is doable on long walks/hikes.

You mean the Big White Pointy Thing? :D

When we liven in the D.C. area (Arlington, VA) Samantha, then 6, always called it that. We still refer to it that way for her memories.

Both great shots, BTW.

Great shots! I saw a photographic challenge somewhere on the not long ago called "Framed by nature" (or something like that). The first shot is a great example! I like the second shot too for thr contrast between the deep blue sky at the top and the fuzzy blossoms at the bottom.

Nice detailed shots, I like the 16-50mm also, after RAW correction in Lightroom the results at the wide to mid end are very acceptable, the long end lacking a little as with most zooms
