30 Keys to Stock Photography

Unread post by David Kilpatrick »

On my other website (which gets sadly neglected, I'm afraid) I have posted a very long article which was requested by Alamy stock photographers and may be of interest to all others, as many of the pointers given apply to photography in general:

I am now approaching $45,000 (before commission) and 440 sales through Alamy, the great majority on Minolta, KM or Sony equipment - but to get to this position has involved uploading over 12,000 images. 2002-2006 I had just a very small number, speeding up slowly in 2004-5 with the KM DSLRs and adding at a pretty consistent since 2007 and the A700.

Excellent article David, I have benefited from your guidance in Stock Photography over the years, though my rewards have been much more modest! - Folks probably don't realise how much work is involved in taking and keywording Stock and just how many photos you have to have in the libraries to get a regular income, and it gets harder all the time, as selling prices fall and number of photos in the libraries increase.

Here's to a successful 2011 :D
