Tip for takening jewellery photos

Hi all

Have been away from here for a while, , Need some advice. My wife has started selling jewellery and I've been recruited has CAD operator and photographer.

I've quickly found takening photos of silver jewellery is not has easy has it look.

What equipment should I been using? For now I only have my A550 sigma 18-250. And sigma 580 flash

Lots of white paper. Make a sort of tunnel - as big as you can - and fire your flash at the paper, not the jewellery. Shape the paper to shape the jewellery. Use a soft dome diffuser on the flash.

what will be the final support? internet only? print (how big)?
I have no idea how good is your 18-250 at close focus, you'll probably need a Macro lens (70 to 100 mm), a flash with a diffuser really close to the subject (doesn't need to be too big or expensive) like

I remember this girl that rented my friend's studio in Paris, she used to place the softbox back-light really close to the objects, then fill in with reflectors: white, gray or black depending on the effect she was looking for...
