I have recently started to take video on my NEX5n and A57 having finally retired my miniDV video camera. The quality is excellent but I am having a nightmare trying to find an editing programme that can accept MPG4. I have used Pinnacle 11 for years but this will not read the files. (Will Pin 16 do it?) I have tried converting to AVI and editing these but the programme keeps crashing on writing an MP4 output file.
I have seen some of David's excellent videos from NEX etc and would be grateful for some tips on what to use.
Sorry if this is covered elswhere but I cannot find any reference.
Thanks

Re: Editing MP4 files from NEX - recommended programmes plea
Hi Roger. I have always set my Sony cameras to shoot video in mp4 rather than avchd as mp4 editors are more common and the format seems easier to edit. I use iMovie but this is probably only a solution if you're on a Mac.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.
Re: Editing MP4 files from NEX - recommended programmes plea
Thanks Birma - yes I too have recorded only in MP4. I normally use Windows programmes but have access to my wife's Mac. I was able to import to iMovie and play the video but the sound track seems to have been lost. This is the older version of iMovie so I wonder if the update would solve the problem. May try that. Still interested to know what David uses which I know is on his Mac.
