Sury is calling me out for discussing limitations of lenses that include the 100mm Macro. Of course, the minimum focus distance does not apply in the case of the 100mm. He is right, I chose my words poorly. The ZA 85mm won't let you get close enough for a tight composition. The 135mm gets you close but the added reach is offset by the razor thin DOF. This makes getting that sweet spot in focus while hand holding an issue.
Maybe I will try the 85 and the 70-200 tonight. Hope that doesn't highjack the thread.
BTW, you make a great point about the flowers lasting. They appeared to have aged overnight. Fewer targets tonight I presume.

As promised. The ZA 85mm.
Disclaimer: holding camera with one hand, umbrella with the other.
While it renders detail and color beautifully, I don't feel that I can get close enough to the subject (for the kind of images that I want to take).

Re: Flowers 2019 - Your Flower and Garden Shots
Here are some examples of Rokinon 85f1.4 on A99M2. I find MFD to be too large to enjoy close up shots. JT mentioned the same too.
The lens seem to work better with A77M2 over A99M2.
This is a counter example of A77M2 is better than A99M2. But for the pixels to spare, would not have gotten the shot. Heavily cropped.

Closer is better in most things, except rattlesnakes.
Will test the 70-200mm tomorrow morning.

Very lovely Lily shots, JBTaylor, and now I understand where Sury was pointing with the idea of lens restrictions/limitations.
When the lens limits, the creativity of the photographer kicks in with composition and post-production… Good that you are a good photographer and we enjoy many lovely compositions.
Nice testing with nice subjects, Sury.
That bee on purple flower and the Agapanthus are good shots and I suppose, you usually crop the image to get what you desire out of the shot.
Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

Lovely flowers, Sury.
These flowers deserve a neat closer look, in my opinion. Macro shots and compositions would have been great too.

Re: Flowers 2019 - Your Flower and Garden Shots
Thank you Yildiz and coincidentally yesterday I was planning on taking close up and/or macro. Debated between 90f2 Vivitar (MD), 100f4Bellows MD or Tamron 60f2.Managed to sneak few 70-400 shots though, just to keep up with JT.
Will shoot them today as there were quite a few social engagements yesterday (3 to be precise - one visit to temple and two social engagements back to back ) prevented me from my indulgence. Most the day has been shot between Wimbledon and World Cup Cricket so far.

Sury,
So many social engagements. So little time.
Last ones. Taken with the 70-200mm at 200mm.
Not sure of the difference in DOF between 135mm at f2.0 and 200mm @ f2.8. They look pretty similar.
At f4.0

Very nice colors JT. I did take some with 70-400. Will upload them tomorrow.
Yes indeed. Typical weekends are social engagement overloads.

The lilies are beautiful, JBTaylor, frills and curls! They are an interesting and spectacular species for sure and the bokeh is 'silky', in my opinion. Nicely done.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Flowers 2019 - Your Flower and Garden Shots
Yildiz, thanks for the reminder. My flash was replaced. Today I experimented with 70-400G and Vivitar 90f2 MD indoors.
With my 90 as trigger, Sony 43 in wireless mode and Adorama flash in optical trigger. I need to down load from camera
and up load to Flickr. But alas, social engagement has come in the way. Meeting friends for cocktails and interview the
mixologist for the upcoming wedding of my friend's daughter. Life has been difficult of late.
In the next day or so you will see my new effort. I have been doing less of spray and pray and more of deliberately taking
shots of late.
In meantime....
