So by your own admission you have simply copied and pasted information found on the net (again) without understanding what this actually relates to. I have had a check earlier today and found the following:

12 companies are dormant or closed
8 are joint ventures (50:50 with another company)
109 are divisions of 80 wholly owned subsidiaries of Sony Corporation

When Sony notify the SEC of quarterly earnings or publish financial reports for Sony Corporation the above companies (and some not on your list) make up the data. These are not 3rd party companies that Sony has a stake in.

I find some of your posts interesting (like the wish list for new lenses in the PMA thread) but the vast majority seem to be random data found on the internet and posted out of context. Please try to stick to the interesting stuff as I personally find that the rest just doesn't seem to have any merit here!

Buddy, you are keeping on totally contradicting yourself. After you study up on the subject, please post some meaningful information.

OK - I admit that I underestimated the number of equity entities in my earlier post but on a day to day basis I am only involved with the European operation and most of these other ones are outside of this. I still believe that you are posting information that has no real meaning within the context of the post but in the interest of forum peace (and so I don't look too pedantic in my first posts) this will be my last post on the subject.

Neither Matsushita, nor Sony are pure electronic companies. Sony is heavily involved in entertainment and Panasonic in electrical products.

Byuing Sanyo will give Matsushita more capacity to make inexpensive cameras, as Sanyo assemled cameras for many comapnies, including Olympus.

With Sanyo, Matsushita also bought the Fischer brand, so we may see it resurected in audio systems.
