This is the future of digital imaging. Forget Nikon!

The new gen cameras will take pictures in a different way. As the camera takes pictures contunously as you look in the viefinder, there will not be any delay when pressing the shutter, and there will not be mechanical shutter in the camera.

If you don't like that frame, you will be able to go back and forth in the series, on your 8 MP monitor.

3D monitors without glasses are reality already. Disney claims that it will be releasing all their films in 3D. A lot of theaters are being converted to digital 3D projection. As video cameras become 3D and video and still functions merge, nothing will stay the same, and it will not take long.

Why would I want to forget Nikon?
I've never owned one....I would have if I'd had the money for multiple systems though, but I don't want to see a name like Nikon disappear, remember what a horrible experience it was when Minolta pulled the pin.....remember?

I meant that Nikon will be standing on the sidelines. Major innovations will come by Sony and Canon, but no, Nikon will not disappear, it will stay together with Panasonic and Samsung. The rest will be gone - Olympus, Pentax

XMOR-R includes the CleaVid checkerboard pixel pattern to double resolution; in actuality the resolution is not doubled, but is increased.

Should Sony put XMOR-R with true 25 MP in the new A1000, we get 35 MP effective resolution and twice the sensitivity of the current CMOS sensor. By that time Sony will naturally take care of the noise issue via new firmware, etc.

I think your focus about digital photography is solely on sensor technology. Although it is an extremely important part of digital photography, don't forget what are made of photography, camera, lens, etc. Over the last few years, I have not seen Canon brought any exciting features to the camera, and it seems Canon is always trying to chase Nikon in terms of Camera features, and it seems Nikon camera always offers more value than Canons if pays for the same amount of $$$ on their cameras. Of course this is my opinion.

Sony has a lot to catch in terms of Camera/lens design. They have done a great job so far, but they don't seem have any obvious advantage in camera body/lens design except they do make sensors.

I'm actually glad that Nikon still exists, and comes along strong against its competitors. Because of that, consumers like us benefit.
