Interesting, which language is "lekker"? I come from South Africa originally, and "lekker" means "good" in Afrikaans, which is closely related to Dutch.

Congrats Gustav!

We all knew this day would come and Dr. Harout would even say that it's the enigmatic power of being a Photoclubalpha forum member...Well, he rules a whole of a minor galaxy now, so he should know best!! :D :D

Congratulations Gustav. Show them what these beautiful yet tiny birds can do for Alphas....

:D As I said Dr. Harout, you know something about these ranks that we sort of didn't grasp yet but no worries, I suppose my 'breakthrough' is in the works somewhere too...

Lekker is indeed Good but more when you talk about food or the weather. Like in "Het is lekker weer vandaag" The weather is good or fine today. Lekker is Dutch indeed. As you speak kind of Dutch in Zuid Afrikaans, jij kent dit wel, Suid Afrikaner man, Jullie , Zuid Afrikanen, hebben lekkere wijnen. :? en mooie vrouwen :P (You South Africans have nice wines en beautiful women).

In Afrikaans, lekker is also connected with sweets and food, but you can also say "Daardie vrou is baie lekker" instead of "baie mooi", although I suppose it's slang. Also, tasty is "smaakvol".

My Afrikaans is nie so goed nie, maar ek kan a bietjie verstaan. Dankie vir die geleentheid om die ou taal te praat.

Gustav, that's excellent. I am planning to run a set of your pictures (saved since last October) in the Photoworld magazine, and this makes it even more appropriate. I will in the next two days update you on this, and you can update any images (though I think what we gathered last year remains excellent). We will be able to mention that you are on the Focus stand. It is typical of my friend Paul at Sony UK that he would not inform me directly of this, but he needs to take action very quickly to ensure the right promotion before Focus with other magazines.

To give you some idea how bad Sony are at this, we were not even aware they would be at Focus. They have not attended Focus in the past, and many companies have dropped out from Focus 2009. Minolta UK/KM UK always used to attend. Most magazines are finishing their last issues pre-Focus right now, and publicity should have been sent out a month ago.

I will be at Focus on the Monday and Tuesday. I am 'based' at the Master Photographers Association stand.
