I heard bout it on the radio yesterday. Since they're going Chapter 11, instead of 7, I Doubt we'll see much more than some store closings.

ya this has been posted before. all they need is their financing restored and they will be back full force. except everywhere else I've seen this news posted on forums including the 3+ DPR sony and canon threads has a trail of hate posts after it. this is not a much liked outfit by a lot of people.. we don't have any up here. there was a chain here called Ritz but I don't think it's related.

Well, they have young workers who needed a job and don't necessarily know anything about cameras or photography than what they picked up at orientation. It's not like to old hometown camera store where the guy behind the counter started with coated pewter plates and flashpowder!

When I lived in DC they were 2 blocks from work, so I used them for developing and printing. When I was working in DC last year I bought my 70-300 zoom from them. No one in the store could answer any question the catalog didn't cover. Is it really any worse than Best Buy or the defunct Circuit City?

What do you play on the Xbox 360, Sonolta? Didn't realize you were a gamer.

Far Cry 2
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Forza Motorsport 2
Half Life 2
Portal
Rock Band 2

Um, lots of sequels in there.

I started out with the racing simulator and the fantasy role-playing game, but then I started learning to love the classic scripted first-person shooters. Rock Band was my wife's idea, into which she dragged me kicking and screaming, but I enjoy it a lot now. Portal is in a category by it's self, and probably the most original and infectious video game in the last twenty years. It comes in "The Orange Box," which is an inexpensive collection of five hit games from Valve that no gamer should go without.

What is Dead Space? It seems interesting.

P.S. I should add that I picked up the first and last games on my list in the great Circuit City liquidation...just to keep it vaguely on topic with the OP.

I was a pretty hardcore gamer too, long time ago though and in a different sort of way. I started with Doom and getting dialup games over our local BBS. then it was quake for a short time where the guys from doom2 put a team together and played other local teams . then it was on to team fortress or the next 6-7 years.. we played in the TF open (first big organized team fortress tournament) in 1997. we placed 4th behind the 3 coledge clans that were there. Oski. fith element, Erinyes I think were ahead of us. Oski always cleaned up .. all Berkely guys in a dorm with the whole internet flowing through there while we were on 14.4's we had a lot of fun but it also was a lot of pressure. every other game I played since has only kept my attention for a little while. except for starcraft First time I got into a 2vs2 match on that it lasted 6 hours on a work night and decided that was going to be too much like crak so I gave it up. with TF we would train 2 nights for a couple hours and have 2 matches of 20 minutes each on another night. we were pretty dedicated to it and have met a few times over the years.

Thanks, Sonolta!

Javelin, you might like The Orange Box, it comes with Half Life 2, two expansion episodes, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. Sadly, my Orange Box is for the Xbox, so it requires a subscription to play TF2, but my boss plays the PC version of The Orange Box and loves it. He does lots of online FPS and team games, and he's also the one who introduced me to Far Cry 2.

My wife enjoys playing Guild Wars, a fantasy MMO competing against World of Warcraft. It requires no subscription fee and the gameplay and artwork are far superior.

I actually have HL2 I bought that when it came out and is the last game i've bought. I know TF2 came out on it but I hadn't bothered yet. One of my former team mates is playing it now but I haven't bothered with it yet. It sounds like a real bargain now though with that bundle.

If all it had was Portal, it would still be the best deal in video game history...go see if your local CC still has a copy for an epicly good deal.
