Re: Rumor or Real - Sony HD 720P & Touchscreen
Gentlemen:
It is one thing what I want from Sony and another thing what might generate the greatest sales numbers for Sony. So I use DOF on my A700 and regret this feature is not available on my A350. I love the LV on my A350 and dislike the narrow OVF field of view on thi camera. I would love an upgrade to the A700 to have a 3" LV with articulation and the ability to close focus. I am not interested in video but I realise it may come because I am in a minority (again) - it would appear.
I want a larger sensor 15-16 Mp with at least A700 v.4 high ISO performance in an A700 upgrade. That is just me. I may not get it the way I want as I am in a minority. I look at amazement at the new cameras coming out from competitors and conclude that my A700 and A350 fulfill my current requirements so the wallet stays in my pocket. I will buy an A700 upgrade if Sony will think about me and my requirements for a larger APS-C sensor, and LV with a decent OVF combined with all the current A700 capabilities including DOF. Micro adjustment of focus would obviously be a good addition. I would accept the addition of video if Sony would give me the rest of my requirements without making the price "silly".

Don, Why do you feel the need to justify your self all the time.
It should not be necessary from a person with your stated education...
Your continual justification posts only show the more educated (in Life), your deficient side.
I've used two words in the above that I feel you will need to respond to, try and ignore them.

Re: Rumor or Real - Sony HD 720P & Touchscreen
I quote "Back to the subject at hand I personally dont want video, never have and never will (had it on the a2 and never used at all, and have a camcorder gathering dust) but that doesnt make me a Sony fanboy any more than it makes you a Nikon fanboy for wanting it. It is not inconcievable that i might end up one day with a camera that has that facility but again whether I'll use it or not is debateable. similarly I remain to be convinced that a touchscreen would be advantageous and at the moment i am struggling to see how in terms of taking pictures it would be useful. Playback may be a different issue but i cannot see the point of having a touchscreen just for that.........." I thought that was on topic...........Sonolta wrote:Why don't you post something on topic here instead of posting off-topic nonsense? I think a few of you are terribly obsessed with Sonolta, and to be honest, it appears as if a few of you are stalking me and my posts, instead of speaking on the forum topic itself!
So please do sit on your longest lens and think about things for awhile, OK? Most of all, please do try to post on topic instead of posting nonsense and personal attacks!
Thanks kindly,
-Sonolta

Maybe an advertising trick, the more outlandish one is the more attention one is likely to attract.caporip wrote: Actually i think i am (incidentally i am an adjudicator by profession) I was talking about the offensiveness of your posts no other individual on this forum responds in the manner you do. It certainly is an attention seeking manner.

I see you prefer NICENESS and LIES to HONESTY and INFORMATION! You must be like one of those liberal puke judges legislating from the bench, eh? Get a clue...you may like LIARS and LIES but I will tell you they have NO BUSINESS in a technical forum!

I guess you can't read...HE IS A (banned term) that SPEWS NONSENSE!
Yes, when it is TIME TO CALL OUT A DISENGHENOUS moron ON HIS LIES it's TIME! I don't mind keeping correcting idiots as I have been doing it for years.

Maybe you could post something on-topic instead of spamming this thread with nonsense? If you don't like the way I do things then don't read me...it's just that simple. I will not stop calling out LIARS and PHONIES (like A1000) so maybe you should start calling a few of them out and I will not need to do it so often!
-Sonolta[/quote]
What astounds me is that you really dont get it do you? Its a preference for good manners - nothing else. Resorting to calling people names (btw what is a liberal puke judge?) just shows you up patrticular when you complain about personal attacks!

Not only attention seeking but has to have the last say.
Sorry Don, I had given you more credit than was due.
Your head really is in your clacker.
Isn't it time you went to bed.

Re: Rumor or Real - Sony HD 720P & Touchscreen
I was making the point on a Minolta/sony forum where the subject of video has been raised that i have no partricular need for it. In other words and avoiding any of the labels you are so quick to use on others, Don, I was expressing a view. That i thought was what a forum is for. Yes I do know what an interface is but would reiterate that, again in my view, I am unable to see how a touchscreen which needs you physically take your eye from the camera is better than a mechanical interface that you can use while you are composing the shot without the need to take your eye from it this to me seems to be a valid point, but like you say what do i know. Once again i can see the applications in playback but not in taking the shot.Sonolta wrote: I guess you have never been in the Military, eh? Never been smacked down for misinformation or lies? Or is it that you just never had a job where truth and LIES made any difference?
Military? now who's going off topic?
PS...You really are having troubles talking about Video and you really do seem to be one of the ones obcessed with Sonolta.
Re live view I can see its uses, having had the 350, but in all honesty its not, in terms of of the stuff i do, a big deal for me. I'm happy with having a 100% viewfinder. If that means i'm out of touch so be it, the point is that even though Sony may, in your view, be late to the table in implementing Liveview and video on its top of the range cameras clearly that is not a problem for a lot of people, myself included.

So, I take it that you would like to get back on subject so you can continue to abuse those
that YOU feel have a different opinion than your self.
Perhaps David can see what the forum would be like if we all behaved like you.
You started the off subject nonsense by abusing others and now you want to get back on subject.

Re: Rumor or Real - Sony HD 720P & Touchscreen
Well, if Sony want's to continue gaining market share they will need what the others already have and that includes video and live view. Rumor back in the day was that LV was dropped from the a900 so they could rush the a900 to market...Maybe that's why many are calling for an A900 V4, eh?
Why do they have to copy the rest of the market why cant they aim for, say, a perfect (in terms IQ low noise etc etc) conventional top range dslr without the bells and whistles. Yes I know that this mythical beast does not exist yet, but lets say for arguments sake, that the noise problem didnt exist with the A900. Given that the apocryphal tales of existing users of Canikon users switching to it , in its current form, are true then its reasonable to assume that in this hypothetical perfect state such migration would be higher. In other words it would seem that on its current ouput to date it has increased its market share without resorting to adding all the extra/frills on all its models. If it can do this with out the additional cost, and compromise, of the extra features like liveview and video why should it, at this stage, add them? It seems to me that there is an advantage in being last in this particular race when you determine if any such addition would take your market share to the next level you are aspiring to.

Re: Rumor or Real - Sony HD 720P & Touchscreen
Since no-one took any notice of my request to cool this stuff, I'm locking this thread. For once, Don is not the culprit. Some members wonder why I have not banned Don, and may think they help by giving him a bit of his own tactics back. I suggest you look at some other threads where Don has been helpful, polite, and no way confrontational (they do exist).
There is no real point in arguing this stuff - it is written in stone that Sony will sooner or later offer both LV and HD video, and that they will either fix the problem of unfavourable NR/noise comparisons, or lose potential market share. Ultimately DSLRs need a paradigm shift, in their current design they make rather clumsy video cameras. The prototypes Minolta made in the 1960s - which eventualy produced cameras like the Riva 105i - are far better basic designs for a still-video hybrid.
No-one here needs to sweat blood about this stuff, since no-one here will have any influence on what actually gets designed and produced.
