Hey Robbie I see you have a bird that looks very similar too one over here, (middle photo) called a bush stone-curlew or weeloo here, I wonder if it also has the same eerie night time call.

I thought I'd put this link in as he seems to use both a KM5D and an A700 for his bird photography.
Greg
It must be the same family.. This one really makes a noise at night, can drive you dilly..we call it a Spotted Dikkop (Burhinus capensis). I use a KM5D and an A700 for my bird photography so were you referring to him or me? looking at his site he has much the same interests as me.. very interesting.. thank you for sharing this..

Thank you Yildez.. appreciate your comments..

BTW, my passion is Avian photography so I could easily fill this site with pics.. haha

No, you're a sensible person, you'd not hijack anyone's thread. :)

These are all very beautiful birds. Lilac breasted roller has a remarkable colour-palette variety and probably is a young one.

Thanks for sharing Robbie.

Hello Gustav

The Malachite Kingfisher is found all over Africa below the Sahara.. We have them in South Africa and they are not so common, but if you know where to look we can find them without much difficulty. You are welcome to visit South Africa and when you do, I will happily show you where I shoot them. They are found all over the country next to rivers and lakes and I have seen them in a few different places including the Kruger National Park. Here we also have about 10 different kingfishers. I include some more photos just to wet your appetite so that you can visit here.

Wonderful shots, Robbie.
Would be very exciting to see you and Gustav competing taking shots of those amazing birds.

Doesn't matter, you're both superb, each in his own methods. :D
