Re: do you think this pic works
This is what I figured out a long time ago. If it pleases me then it is a successful photo. Sometimes what pleases me pleases many other people too, but not always. Trust your own judgment. That doesn't mean that your own judgment won't change over time though. I know this isn't what you were asking but, nevertheless, I hope you find it useful.

wise words babuko and your bang on the money
Re: do you think this pic works
It works for me. For me, it would work a little better with some off the bottom.

I'm with Winston, a little off the bottom, otherwise a fine shot.

Nothing superior about my judgment. It's was just my opinion (which everyone is entitled to)

i understand that bodak and for me the first is better, somehow my eyes seem to fall right into the picture, the pic is doing something to my eyes that i can,t control, dragging them right into the centre buildings , for some unknown (to me) reason, it doesnt seem to happen with the second thanks everybody for the commentsBodak wrote:For me that is better, but like has been mentioned, it is you that has to be pleased.

Nice photo gio67,
I also support your judgement that the first version is better; I think that the uppermost shade of blue in the sky and lowermost of the waters make a strong match which create the illusion of being mirrored does the trick here, whereas in other circumstances the cropping would actually be a desired procedure.
The concept and the ' horizontally linear' subject make it unique making it a natural centerfold image....
Just my tiny bit of thoughts!

Re: do you think this pic works
Despite the 2/3 convention I hear constantly from the visiting judges at my camera club competition nights, I prefer the original and I agree with the comments about the eye being drawn into it.
I thinks its a great shot.
But if I was in a conforming mood, by scrolling my screen view I am able to lob the top off which works better for me than losing that nice dark blue.
Thanks for posting it.
