Let's post some panoramas

Let's post some panoramas. I suggested that inside my Grand Tetons thread, but it probably didn't get noticed by most people so I will start a new thread.

I will start off with this panorama of Bryce Canyon:

By the way, just to let everyone know, when I post a link to the large version of one of my panoramas it isn't huge. The height is just 480 pixels so most of them are only about 250-400kb. So, don't worry about clicking on the link. You aren't going to get a huge, slow download.

Panoramas are easy to do. Of course, there is lots of panorama software available, some free, some not free. Here is a very easy to use free program called Autostitch:

Autostitch doesn't do an install. It is just a simple standalone program that you can run. Nothing to install.

Give it a try and post a panorama!

I saw the Teton posting. My problem is that I don't have a place to post my huge Southern Utah panos.

If they are really big then just resize them. It is much better to have a smaller version as a "thumbnail" that maybe only has a height of 125-150 pixels and then a larger one with a height of 400-600 pixels. That is what I do. Show the thumbnail and then have a link to the larger one. Most people don't want to download a huge panorama anyway.

Sure, that is fine. By the way, what angle of view is the XPan? I recall that a friend bought one about a decade ago.

There are 3 lenses on the XPan system: 30mm f5.6; 45mm f4 and 90mm f4 -this are ultra compact medium format lenses -the body is just a little bigger than a Leica M

Well, I finally got a chance to take another panorama of the view from the backyard -- this time with nicer morning light.

For the sake of people's browsers, this "large" one is only about 40 megapixels.

One point some may find interesting is the glider and tow plane near the left edge (unfortunately, far enough away that resolution on them is pretty poor).

Nice! I was in South Africa in 1993, but didn't see those colors. Were you on top of a hill when you took this?
