Who has pre-order a Sony's HVLF20AM Flash like me ?

Unread post by InTheSky »

I'm just curious to know how many user has pre-order it of even already received it.

I was at the sony style store a few weeks ago trying to find a better alternative to make my portable flash system to work and found the new HVLF58 to large for a portable flash. I think the HVLF20 will the best friend of my A900 (in small traveling pack).

Regards,

Frank

Well, it will control your other flashes from the a900, and it's cost is almost pocket change by photographic standards. I'm not certain I understand your question at all, but the safe answer is "Go for it!"

Seems to make sense for A900 users.

But I have a question, if one fancies a smaller more compact flash (than the 36/56/42/58 etc) what are the "decent" alternatives available if you don't fancy this one?

None. There are no independent small flash units. Sunpak do some which come close but are a bit of a compromise for auto operation.

I have a 2000i gun, which is really neat and compact but far more powerful and does direct flash only (also, it will only fire on full power). It has uses but not many.

it's smaller, but not that small. And forget about wireless. But I'm thinking about it because the price (less than 100 US$) A mode, TTL without pre-flash and the "firmware update posible"

They don't make that Metz for Sony though.

OK, it looks as if they do make it for Sony - and several other makes they did not cover before. This flash has not been publicised in the UK, and they only sell it here for Canon and Nikon. No idea why the other fittings are not offered.

The HVL F20AM is supposed to be shipped next week.
