In the last couple of weeks I have received this error message 3 times when trying to post a photo:
It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image.
It is strange because the image was processed the same, is the same size (long dimension 640 pixels), and on the same website as all the others I post here. I have noticed that when it happens I can never post that photo, but another photo may post fine.
Has this ever happened to you? Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Forum photo posting problem
Had it happen 3 or 4 times Henry, quite a bit
considering I have not posted that many photos.
I just downsized them a tad thinking they
were too big, it worked but I am sure they were
OK the first time?

Re: Forum photo posting problem
Hmm, this is pretty strange. I wonder if others have had this problem from time to time? How big were your photos when you got the error? Mine are all 640 pixels on the long side -- exactly the same as all the other many photos I have posted that don't get the error.

Re: Forum photo posting problem
Not had it happen for a few weeks now. Most
of mine are around 750 on the long side,
plus or minus 150 pixels. Next time it
happens I will size up a bit to see how
it likes it :^)

Re: Forum photo posting problem
I have now changed the way the forum handles direct uploads (Attachments). They will no longer appear as thumbnails, but as full sized images in the post. So you can use this site directly, without losing the impact of a large photo in the post.

Re: Forum photo posting problem
David, that will help some people and they will probably appreciate it. When I post a photo I just quickly scan my website and post the link. It would be a lot more trouble and time consuming if I had to find it on my hard disk or external hard disk and then upload it.
The first time this happened was just a few weeks ago. I think it may have been about the time many people, me included, were having problems with the forum format getting messed up in our browser. I think I recall you saying that you had updated the forum software and that is what caused the layout problems. I wonder if the change in forum software introduced a bug that causes the error message above sometimes? I wish I could recall which photo that I first got this error message on a few weeks ago so I could try it again. I wonder if the length of the url is where the problem lies? Maybe if the url is too long the software truncates it and then it no longer points to a jpeg. I think I recall getting the same error message when I had made a mistake in the url. The most recent problem was with a fairly long url but the one a few weeks ago was shorter, I think.
