Frogs

I called the thread frogs in case anyone want's to post the odd frog photo. I guess most of you wouldn't care much about frogs, but they are in decline, I haven't seen or heard this little chap (Eastern Dwarf Treefrog) around home here for 15 years, and late today I heard one, (the wet season has returned for the third year running). I first grabbed the tape recorder (Sony) and recorded the sound, and discovered where the frog was at the same time, then I took his photo, it's a very small frog even full grown, this one was only just over 1/2 inch long.

Yeah, cousins from about 340 million years ago! Still, it's an amazing shot.

BTW, is that a crocodile or an alligator? I think it's the latter (wider jaw )

I think what Pako is sort of saying is that they're both amphibians, (not true amphibians though, that extract oxygen from water), I guess they might be related in some fashon, if you go back far enough through the ancestral tree to the original mudskipper that decided it didn't want to be a fish anymore

Doc, I'm pretty sure it's a crododile, has the telltale nostril bump, v shaped jaws and the 'ears' don't know exactly what sort (could be a porosus or maybe a nile), one thing I'm fairly sure of Pako didn't find it in Central Park.
I'll enclose a shot of 'Handbags' from another angle and you can see the jaws are very wide at the back and taper towards the front wheras Alligator jaws are more parrallel with a much more rounded end

As for crocodiles, I visited the Everglades >15 years ago and I didn't have any camera! Can you believe?

Ha ha Bossel, yeah I completely forgot to kiss it...dang! Hey I like that frog, where was it? in the garden? is it common in your area?

ps. Yep Doc I agree, pollies are usually about on the same level as a used car salesman, except the make even more promises that they don't keep.....
