Three sentinels stand guard at Belsay Castle; I can just imagine ~ in a different timescale ~ that these fellows move around on patrol.



And later that day at Chesters Roman Fort, not as ancient as the stonework I daresay but it's getting on a bit.

Thanks Doc . 5 minutes before I took this shot I was at "The Doc's Lebenese Cedar" as it is now known in the family, but no picture this time as I was in charge of keeping Matilda from throwing her self off walls . Next time.

Wow that's a gnarled ol' tree Ewannawe, how spooky would a forest full of those be...on a moonless night....great tree.
