What a fragile, pink flower that is, Sury. Almost looks like a wax statue....

Dusty, how do you get them to appear as 'glowing' in the central whitish parts? Light behind?

Yildiz,

It's just the nature of the flower. The center is semi-transparent, and no matter the light direction it just seems to shine thru. If I expose for the center, I lose the texture of the petals as it all gets too dark.

I like the glow in the center as Yildiz put it. This is from last night. I had to wing it since it was
dark and AF wouldn't lock. Used HVL-20 flash, f/22.

I completely agree with you. I should of used a bigger F number (smaller aparture) for this particular flower because of its crapy petal formations and rather tangled looks.

All the best luck with your newly-arrived camera! : ) That must be a relief....

Looking forward your flower shots as well as of any other subject you may direct your lens to. : ) Always something to catch up on in there!

I tried to return to the sunflower field, but they were well past their prime... So this is from a field near my house. Taken near sunset John

BTW... I think this needs a tick more DOF as well.....

It's not as bad as you think. The sharpness at the most required areas seems to work fine. Good colours and contrast.

John, I like the bokeh the 50/1.7 gives.

Hi John, I like the light on the Sunflower and I think the dof is ok. As the Doc says, you've got to love that 50/1.7 .

I've just been going through trying too catch up, some really nice flower shots there from all, there are some I really like from Birma with the insects and Yildiz also with nice exposure and DOF, Gio67 (did I remember that name right?), and Shelika I noticed from memory, had some very good work as well, I've probably forgotten someone as there is so many good photos.

ps Birma that latest flower shot from the 'dome place' would look great at a large size I reckon, it has a good variety of flowers.

Hi Greg - we continue to get a good selection of great flower shots - it must have been fun catching up . I rarely print anything, it is a whole new area I need to explore. I do like the pictures with swathes of different flowers and colours.

I picked up a Sony 30mm f2.8 Macro today. A very nice little lens for the price. I haven't put it through all of the paces yet, so stay tuned. From my front flower bed. ISO 200 f8 1/160sec John
