NEX-5 at ISO1600 and A580 images from 5 shots per second

I recently acquired both the A580 and NEX-5 kits to take advantage of Sony's VAT back offer here in United Kingdom. Not had much of a chance to use them due to adverse weather but I managed a couple of outings nevertheless. The first image is of ex British Rail Class 37 diesel engines at an open day at Bo'ness here in Scotland. The weather was dull and very overcast (6 Jan.). Picture shot at ISO1600 and remarkably free of noise. Needed a bit of luminance -30. I would say that the supplied 18-55mm E mount is a good and sharp lens.
The other two pictures of Class 334 electric multiple units (EMU) were taken in the snow early January on new railway line between Glasgow and Edinburgh through Bathgate. Both trains came past at 80-85 mph so I set shooting at the high continuous setting (5 frames/second) and AF (ISO400). I must say it sounds like a machine gun but using RAW+Jpeg it pumped away and I was able to select "perfect" placements of the trains from the sequences. First coming towards me and second going away. The shutter speeds were high at 1/2500 and 1/1600 but the AF worked so both trains were sharp at 100%.

Happy with exposure meter and AWB.

Just limited testing but so far so good for these new cameras.

Hi alphomega, I had a look yesterday and got sidetracked < haw, you sure know your train models, and impressive motion stopping with focus accuracy.

Like the trains Alphaomega. Strange to feel nostalgic for a BR diesel, but it does bring back memories .
