Since I am trying to get rid of my A700 too this might not be the ideal solution.

I assume you are joking, but if you are serious then I would sell it to you. You know the history. The camera works fine and had a pretty much complete overall not long ago by Sony replacing a whole bunch of parts. The one problem is that the control wheels sometimes act flaky. They don't do it all the time, but they do sometimes and it drives me up the wall. I haven't kept this to myself though so I suspect you have seen me post about it. For a 3 year old camera it has had relatively light use with something around 16k shutter clicks. I take care of my stuff so it isn't scratched or beat up. Of course, price would reflect the control wheel issue. As so many have told me on this and other forums though I don't really know what I am talking about and I am just using the camera wrong or Hawaii is the problem or something else. If they are right then you would have an almost perfect camera with no problems.

You really should be able to just wash that wheel out with electric cleaner and have it work perfectly. Mine is about 3 years old and the same clicks as yours and I have had to do it twice. Takes all of about 10 seconds to do it and works fine for months afterwards. Seems to be directly related to how much dirt/dust gets down in there. Just hold it upside down - spray liberally with electric contact cleaner while rotating the wheel and the dirt will be washed out and down and away from the camera. No more skipping.

One can of this for $6 should last you the rest of your life. Bought some at a Radio Shack in Santa Cruz two years ago and still almost full.

Since you already have the can maybe you would be interested in buying my A700? The control wheel thing is the only problem but you know that it is easily taken care of so you could take my A700 and have a wonderful body.

Are we talking about the front and rear control dials? Because I just discovered I have a cracked mode dial. Judging from its position, opposite the aperture priority mode selection, my camera must have taken a knock from that corner...I guess I should be glad the mode dial absorbed some of the shock, eh?

Yes, the front and rear control wheels. That's too bad about your mode dial. I hope it causes no problems.

Thanks. It appears to be very superficial, and nothing has come off of the camera at all.
