Aw Henry, why not string him along a bit more, that was getting close to the all time record of the most ridiculous set of posts I have ever seen.
It was SONY that called it a ‘mock-up’ not you, in any case it isn’t a functional camera as it is with a clear body shell, and never will be; so calling it a mock-up seems reasonable. A very advanced ‘mock-up’ though I will admit, you could possibly say it's a pre-production display model of the real thing, although Sony is still capable of changing something (a small something), even now, in which case that would be a prototype display model.

Cheaper than I expected. The Canon 60D is $899, although I paid $929 about 4 months ago. The A77 at those prices must mean that the A55 and A33 are going to drop a lot in price and that will make them even more popular.

If the spec and price are good that's going to be great even for non Sony users as other makers respond to the challenge!
I suspect it will be good as it has to be or else it won't have any impact on the market. But you could argue they could build a pentaprism model and it would be just as popular. Why only start to put a big effort in with SLT?

I guess $$$$$$ at this stage Sony are the only ones offering SLT, They way I see it Sony had 2 choices take on Can/Nik head, with matching models or try and create new market segments and take customers away from Can/Nik. Sony have gone the second option, NEX and SLT are new "types" of APS cameras where sony don't have top play catch-up, instead they are leading, if (and that a BIG IF ) Sony play their cards right and put RnD into right areas, i.e EVF, AF, better lenses. They can always stay 1 step ahead of Can/nik, then they can grow to number one. I think the EVF is the big ticket item, we can already see some of the big benefits of EVF but it also has negatives , if these can be sorted out then SLTs can be used for high end models.

This weekend my wife and I went to a friends baby shower. Since I was the only man there, and they know I dabble in photography (;)), I got to be the official shower photographer. I was using my friends Nikon (D3100?), and my wife's NEX. The first thing that struck me was how much easier it was for me to get shots with the nex due to the rear display and how much clearer the rear viewfinder was on the nex vs the Nikon. Granted this was a very limited situation, but I think its a very typical situation for how most people want to use their cameras. I think it also shows how the camera market is changing giving how most people truly use their cameras. Even my wife noted the difference in the A to B pics I showed her.

I'm really glad that pictures of the new model are finally out so that there is no need for anyone to be upset and get cross any more.

Interesting that it looks like the eye start sensor is above the eye piece. The memory card door looks like it is too short for CF cards? No surpise that the dedicated SSS is still missing. Flip out LCD looks interesting.

Thanks Kevin for your moderating advice! They can revert to inventing stupid insults in place of clever ones (anyone remember a couple of years ago?).

As for the Rumours images, I am amazed by the comments. It looks nothing like a Canon 7D and actually has a close resemblance to Pentax's current shaping but melded back with the classic Minolta 9xi.

The rear view shows a screen tilt mechanism which is tautological. If there are side arms, of any kind, the bottom swivel-hinge can not operate. As shown, the screen could not be reversed to the body or aimed forward under the camera - and it could not articulate like the NEX - unless there a dual carriage. That would involve a NEX-type mechanism on to which an A55-type mechanism is mounted. It is possible, but unlikely, and this detail makes me very suspicious about the verity of the images.

Looking forward to your thoughts in 3 weeks time David when you get your hands on one (or two if the A65 rumour is true). I like the look of the rumour image. The arm / swivel hinge combination is a bit odd. I wonder what we should expect from an A65 model? Less Mps, less fps, and fewer video options?
