Any reason to update my equipment?

Agreed. I tried the A900 again after a long absence and I was most surprised by the volume of the shutter sound. I would be happy using the A77 anywhere a Leica could be used.

I was just looking through my last weekend shots at Watkins Glen of all the waterfalls with my ND filters I shot with the 580 and 24-70ZA. I Then just sat down and read the review David just released. I have to say it is very impressive. I then had a thought. For those who have ever tried the 580 I have become very spoiled with the live view button and the ability to zoom in and get perfect focus. I love my A700 but I really prefer the 580 now on the tripod. I actually use live view more often than ovf on the 580. I then thought about my nex with the adapter and how I love the zoom in ability to focus too. If the LCD display is the same on the 580 as the new A77 then I presume that after looking at the specs of the evf, isn't the Live view better to use in dark conditions vs evf? In most cases after dark I always use a tripod and if the worry about the evf not showing detail, shadows etc vs ovf will live view LCD feature and magnification produce better results than the EVF? You get the details all back and the ability to magnify and focus. I get perfect detail on Live view on the 580 so if the specs are the same is the A77 LCD the same as the 580? If that is the case then upgrade could be justified for there are so many more options even though people don't want to switch to EVF you do have live view!

Yes, the LCD is the same as the 580 and you can indeed get a different view of colours and shadow detail by using it. But the EVF is so good most of the time the rear LCD will not get over-used by most owners, I suspect. Ideal for landscapes where the waist-level or 'groundglass' composition mode suits the attention to detail you need to give.

Silent shutter. I loved that on Dimage A1/A2 and the tilt evf, not mention the live histogram feature. It was so far ahead of its time. Sigh!!!
My next problem:
A77 turning into a strong "want" now. I guess it is now time to be nice to missus till holiday shopping list is compiled. What do I do with 3 bodies is the question....I know, I know, there are very good Samaritans on the forum who are more than willing to help me out...
