I have been experimenting with high ISO shots and reduced size output. I knew this already worked with the A700 - selecting a 6 megapixel result from the A700 at 1600+ yields something much better than a native 6 megapixel camera. Well, the A900 does the same when reducing from 24.5 to 11.2 (ACR) or 13 (in-camera) megs, but when you reduce to 6 megapixels - fine for most low light work, and much action shooting - you are using four capture pixels to make every output pixel and this reaches a new level.
Get the Alpha 900 for high res at low ISOs - real 70MB files to beat anything else, for landscape, studio, etc - and you get a 6 or 12 megapixel camera with exceptional low light performance thrown in.
