Couple of A900 crops

took the a900 on a brief visit to Whitstable harbour yesterday and have to say I love it. Frustratingly Elements and the latest camera raw do not seem to recognise A900 raw files yet, presumably an update is on the way? So i used IDC3 to convert to JPEGS:-

A very nice harbour setting and sky; a dramatic feel to it.

I saw these images yesterday and admired the colours and the sharp focus in the shots. The old cafe-owner's being in crispy focus almost freezes him in action and even his brow creases are visibly intact that one can count them...

Congratulations, nice bunch of photos with some good lenses and a good A900.

I am puzzled as to the frame count as i have only taken about 100 shots so far as didnt get the camera until late friday night! Maybe the other ones were used in Quality checking as it was a sealed sony box?

Elements and ACR 4.6 RC will handle A900 files fine. I am using Elements 4.0 on Mac, but 6.0 is needed for PC. The ACR 4.6 plugin must be placed in three places to make sure the programs interact correctly - it is not enough to copy it to the Application Support/Adobe/Plugins/Camera Raw Library (Registry) on the Mac. It also needs to be placed in the Photoshop Elements/Plugins/File Formats folder, and in the Adobe Bridge/Plugins folder. Once all three were equipped with the latest ACR, the Bridge/Elements installation on my Powerbook started to create proper browser thumbnails and to open the files correctly in ACR/Elements rather than trying to open them in Preview (equivalent to Windows trying to open them with Explorer).

It took me half an hour to work out what needed doing. Photoshop CS3/Bridge was rather easier - I just copied to Application Support/Adobe/Plugins/Camera Raw the usual way, taking care of course to delete the Bridge previews cache before working on the files. Deleting previews does not erase your .XMP files but you won't get cropped and adjusted high quality previews back until you open files again.
