A77 400 iso portraits

Hi guys,
I thought it was about time I posted something. Here are two shots that I took with the A77. They were taken at the Great Central Railway WWII re-enactment weekend. This lady had come as a member of the French resistance and was sitting in the same railway carriage as me. How could I resist a shot?

Great shots. It looked lie there was considerable natural light from her left. ISO 400 for boosting shutter speed? Just curious.

Thanks for the nice comments. You are right about the gloves. Also in the first shot she is wearing her period style glasses. The light was coming through the carriage window to her left and the window on the other side looked out to the corridor and then more windows. So light from her left and fill-in from her right. I was lucky with this shot. I am really not very good at this sort of thing. I should have taken a little longer and given more direction. Yes, I dialled in iso 400 for safety although I could have got away with less. I think the exposure was around 1/200th at f4.5.

in my opinion the gloves stay,it is not a portrait as such but more photojournalism, and is telling a story ,the gloves add to the authencity of the story,you take what you get in photojournalism,

Welcome to the forum, John. : )

I love both of your shots... and I love all the accesories the cute old lady dolls herself with. It signifies a certain period in time/history and I think that the gloves add a certain 'lady quality' to the frame. As Gio mentioned; these are not model shoots of choice but more of documenting an event/a moment, hence photojournalistic.

Good light and participation from the lady. The first shot takes me directly to the aura of Queen Elisabeth of England.
