Greg - you're Alien analogy has an interesting twist as Yellow Rattle is a parasitic plant that attaches itself to its neighbours roots to gain nourishment - a bit like a particular zeno-morphic alien we all know, commonly found on deserted spaceships on alien planets .

Sury - your Tweety Pie analogy is also well made as this plant's other common name is Cockscomb

In checking out the parasite thing I found that Yellow Rattle is considered an important plant in the establishment and maintenance of wild flower meadows as it restricts the grass from out competing the flowers. It is certainly doing its job well at Joan's Hill Farm.

The Yellow Rattle doesn't look as 'Alien' in that last photo Birma, we'll have to tell Ripley to stand easy. It still looks pretty good for a 'weed' though.

Some more meadow flowers, from a different part of the country. I was working in Milton Keynes last week, and I managed to find time to visit this local Wildlife Trust reserve one evening.

As I was travelling I had the Nex 5 with me. First shot with the LA-EA2 adapter and Tamron 60 Macro, and the second with SEL 55-210.

Nice ones Birma, I don’t think the NEX is quite up to the A99 standard though.

Thanks Greg . You may be right, but it is probably user error. The raw files are not as nice to work with (for me) after the A99 ones.

Thanks Greg. Yep - its a wild one . They are over quickly and look 'messy' for some time. You're right that they would look good in the garden - they like it a bit boggy it seems.

I'm enjoying the nex 6, so much so I have not had the a580 out for weeks, it's so easy to handle and carry,

Which lens or lenses where you using? Hand-held?

I'm just about set on the 6 as the replacement for my 5. Just waiting to see if the price will dip to £600 for camera and 16-50 kit lens. Wex and Jessops have just dropped down to £629 with free cards/bags.

the one you picked was with the a580 and tamron 90mm macro, i was comparing them that night, 2 of the others are the nex 6 with tamron 90mm macro and LA-EA2 adaptor and the other is with the sony 35mm 1.8 e mount, a really sharp lens, I love it more than my zeiss 16-80 and thats going some

Lovely shots Gio67 the last one is my fabvourite. Some lovely wildflowers Birma looks like you're spoilt for choice!

Thanks Caporip I believe that military types would call it a "target rich environment" .

I like the unusual POV for the Foxglove. Fabulous detail on the tiny hairs around each 'bud'.

Nex 5 with SEL 55-210. I have to say this is my favourite of the native Nex lenses I have (16, 18-55, 55-210) but then it is the most expensive . This shot isn't perfect as it was too windy for really crisp shots, but I like the image overall. The lens has very pleasing bokeh and great central sharpness. Continued thanks to Pako for his recommendation!

Good detail on the Foxglove caporip. Are you getting on top of the light regulation?
The lens (and Daisy) looks good Birma, sharp with good bokeh.
