Woops! Looks like I accidently struck a noive while I was horsing around, sorry Yildypooh blame me, I’ve got broad shoulders. :(

Nothing exotic for tea here tonight, some tender steak veggies and sauce was on the menu, and very nice it was too.
Greg
Hey Greg, :)

Well if anyone, I know exactly who to blame and it is definitely not you or anyone in the forum. It still happens in many a place and is a sensitive issue for girls of all ages because the damage is not reversible at all. No remedy. One remembers...
Your shoulders can go free of the blame, believe me. : ) For one thing, if anyone is a good sharer it is you. I'm pretty sure your daughter would have no such worries with you at all.

Good looking dish there and I can imagine the fresh sweet smell rising from that plate.

Thanks for sharing,

Hi Sury,

Kinnera is lucky girl and I'm sure she is aware that she has a good father who thinks the world of her at such an early stage in her life . :)

When I hear of men such as yourself being good and treating equally to their daughters it warms my heart and I'm filled with hope for all the 'daughters' that receive unequal treatment especially if they had brothers around.
My father never let me use the family car even though I had a driving license while he let my brother drive and exploit it until it was trashed. Gendre discrimination between children leaves a very bitter feeling that doesn't go away and one loses all respect for one's father or parents.

Glad that you treasure your daughter as much as you do your son. We need more men and women on Earth that think and act like you do. Only then we'll have healthy generations aspiring to be even better human beings.

Hope we get to see photos of Kinnera's graduation from the university and the party cakes as well when the time comes. :D

Yildiz,
Having grown up in a male dominant society (India) and ashamed to say, one that has encouraged female feticide for decades, I know exactly what you are talking about, and the seriousness of the issue. We were five siblings (4 brothers and 1 sister). My mom (who is barely a literate let alone having a college diploma) would always (it seemed to us anyway :) ) brought 4 things for my sister for every one thing she bought each of us. We always used to chuckle in amusement. I guess that's why it was a natural behavior for me to treat my children equitably. For us, our two kids are like our eyes, left eye is no more or no less important than the right eye. Most of my friends share a similar sentiment as well. You can be rest assured that there is more than me in this part of the world that shares your sentiment. 8) I am very confident that my kids will inculcate the same values in their children, if and when they have any. The familial gender discrimination is far worse than the familiar discrimination of the society.

With best regards,
Sury

Great thread Yildiz, with a great start Doc. I also thought that was chicken or fish, excellent shots.

Thats a fun Birthay bake for Kinnera Sury, very good shot of the cake.

At first I though that might be your chilli con carné in the bucket. I often have meals
like that Greg but with tofu patties, veg & gravy with onion soup mix for flavoring the
gravy. Will take a shot next time. You would not know the difference by looks or taste!

Rolls made of wholegrain pan bread with cheese and vegetable fillings and tea on the side of course. : ) Something for the Tea Time in general. I made them all myself so the ingredients are bound to change each time when I go for a different flavour.

That looks very healthy and appetizing Yildiz, lovely work and nicely photographed, there was chicken schnitzel here which is fairly mundane by comparison, (but it’s one of my favorites). :D

Nicely photographed indeed, Yildiz. I am showing this to my wife,
who is a vegetarian. She is always looking for new ideas.

Thanks, Greg. : ))

I don't think that chicken schnitzel is mundane at all! :D It's one of my favourites too. Maybe one day you'll share a photo of it with us. : )

Thanks, Sury.

:D You're too kind. If your wife is a vegetarian, I'd suspect that being originally from India you all are very competent with vegetarian recipes. The types of spices utilized in Indian vegetarian dishes always amazed me. You have quite a range. My food is pretty humble trials of the vegetarian kind I'd say. : )

Thanks once again,

Yildiz,
Since we do dine out a lot, she wants to try different foods. Like any cuisine,
once you have the basics in place, everything else is a variation of the theme,
is her point of view. Why not try the variations of the basics themselves and then
fuse different basics for more innovative meals?

Since this is a food topic, we have a Sunday morning staple, that uses Top Ramen
noodles, with Indian spices and cooked in Mexican Salsa. I should make the dish
this weekend and publish the photo.

Yummy looking food, and I like the dish and tea glass as well :)

I went to a Turkish restaurant in Nottingham, UK, last weekend when visiting friends. Lots of nice things that I was expecting (coffee and baklava!) but also something I had never tried before. Turnip water. My friends who eats there regularly said I should try it as it was a really unique taste. What a colour! I was expecting it to be sweet, but of course it is a vary savoury taste. I think this would be nice as a hearty accompaniment to a winter meal, but as it was very hot I preferred a cold Diet Coke :) . I should have captured a picture, but I never thought of this. I wondered if this was a popular Turkish drink, or just something for English Turkish restaurants :) .

Sury, I agree with your wife's views completely. That's how I go about my food as well; I change things here and there and get to a new taste altogether and I mostly enjoy them. : )

Looking forward to Top Ramen noodles cooked with Indian spices in Mexican Salsa. :D

Love learning new methods!

I wish you had taken a couple of photos too, Birma. :D Next time then.

Turnip water is a very, very popular drink in Turkey. No doubt about that. You can find it in almost all food markets nowadays.

In the past, when I was a child you could find it only in cities like Adana, Mersin, Gaziantep which are in the southern parts of Turkey. The red carrot which actually gives the colour of the drink grows in those regions and only for a short period of time during the winter. The best turnip water is naturally produced in those parts. The bottled ones have preservatives which make it taste rather too salty.
We mostly consume the drink with kebabs and lahmacun (a kind of flat pizza made with minced red meat and onions). It is a must on the table because it helps digesting the fatty kebabs and the lahmacuns. : )

I love it all by itself. I really need no kebabs or anything else by its side to consume it. :D I especially like the ones made in Adana and Mersin where it is consumed fresh.

It definitely is something Turkish and not merely confined to English Turkish restaurants. You'll find out for yourself when and if you come to Turkey. : ))

Thanks for the kind words,

Yildiz

Excellent photo Yildiz. Food looks great, my kind of lunch or snack, nutritiously filling, very well presented as always.

Couple of years ago I made a dish called Nohut Dürüm, which to the best of my knowledge was the "only" vegetarian
Dürüm according to this site: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?t ... #Hong_Kong.
I should find out if my friend has any photos.

Lunch Today.

Did the burger up like a Salisbury steak, with mushrooms gravy & veg. Very similar to Gregs. “ Diggers Delight “ ;^)
