Mornings on the water

My day job is not mundane or boring, as a matter of fact, I truly live the life. I spend most of the week on the water as an environmental specalist (Water Quality Monitoring). Fall is my favorite time of year. The mornings are brisk, but the cooler temps bring clear mornings and great scenery. Allow me to share.

This is the Rappahannock River. One of the most pristine and undeveloped tidal rivers in Virginia.

I love Virginia. I used to travel that area a lot. I see your near Norfolk? I remember going across the Chesapeake bay bridge for the first time. pretty heavy traffic but I'm cruising along just fine and I come to the first section that goes into a tunnel. I can't describe the feeling of a bridge arching down into what seems like a hole in the water.. I stopped dead in the middle of the road because the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the hole in the water the road was going into wasn't so much a though but a sound effect "Glug" I thought geez all you'd hear is the glug if the water got a foot deeper... the honking horns and screeching tires got me going again though and I didn't drown so all ended well.

Dang, I need a job where I can use my camera...I work in a locked-down super-private psychiatric facility. Eh, but at least I'm accruing some vacation time! These are lovely pictures, keep sharing!

That is a sailboat that was sunk during Hurricane Isabel, that particular marina was once held the largest charter boat fleet in Virginia. Now only three head boats operate there.
