Yep, they better close their contract with Precision and relocated everithing to Laredo, that the control 100%

What I meant wass, until then, if you make too much "noise", we're taking the risk that they will do au contrair: sending all the DSRL out of Laredo...

I don't think Sony is likely to retributive (if I understand you correctly, Pako). What Sonolta is practicing here is what drives customer service. A service provided must be delivered to 100% satisfaction, otherwise, if you're running at 90% or 25%, an outspoken critic might just fall into that few (or many) that you're overlooking. This time, they hit Sonolta, so they get what's coming to them. Its a risk you run when you run a sloppy business.

Sony should be very swift to take action here...they didn't get to become a huge consumer electronics giant by letting third-party service centers tarnish their reputation.

Haven't you see my title? "hero of the revolution", but a calm revolution: tranquilo...

I agree with Don about the subject, but not about the method.

I think Sony people are smart. I don't know what they are planning to do -if they want to finish their contract with Precision, or if they will raise precision's standard (not that hard after all...) and I prefer Sony people taking care of my equipment the same way the old Minolta people used to do. I know we have to ask Sony for the best service possible, but giving good quality feedback is cherished quality that help to avoid the interface to fall into denial (uff! sounds a little complicate, sorry for my English...)

Actually, that was what experienced last Sat at the Photo Plus Expo: I start complaining too hard about some stuff that the regular Rep didin't really understood, so I got to talk to one of the good guys, after moderate my tone, he did the same and we (me as a user, him as a Marketing boss) understood we were going into the same direction: helping Sony having a better product/service. That's why I preffer this calm approach: it works!

I went to Precision's web site... they seem to be the walmart of camera repair! they have a web page quoting thing thats just made to rip people off. it actually quoted me an SSM upgrade for a 9 and a new shutter for an X700 with no disclaimers or anything and was perfectly willing to take my credit card and everything. were they really going to take my money and let me ship the bodies to them THEN tell me it couldn't be done? they list lens repairs too but at least they don't list every minolta llens made so maybe they can actually do those?

I imaging Nikon and Canon have their own facilities in the USA that take care of both, consumer and professionals customers...

I think (it's my own speculation) they choose Precision because Connecticut isn't that far from the NJ area where Minolta have their head quarters, hopping that at least part of the technicians will be hired by them. But the Minolta people were tired of the company's (lack of) policy and no one care to move to Connecticut... and we lost a great team for our cause!!! Now: try to get fix a xi lens, or a color meter in the USA. Sad, isn't it?

I had to send an a700 to Precision because of serious back focus issues and I include 7 detailed photographs with back focus issues. Twice they sent it back to me with a letter stating they had cleaned the sensor including a letter on how to take photos to control blur. HUH? My 700 had become a manual focus camera. I called Sony and sent it to Sony in Texas and with in 5 days Texas replaced the SI Screen and Focus Scene and recalibrate the camera for focus. It’s fine now.

This is my understanding and I do not know if its true today, but at the time I sent in my camera Precision Camera, they did not consider the Sony camera a “High End Camera” and never made it to the proper group of technical professionals in the repair group. Disconcerting as this may be, I sure hope it has chanced today.
