Re: Landscape 2014
The second for me Richard. I really like the depth of the image, you can really see far into the distance. The Jacob's ladder is an added bonus.
Re: Landscape 2014
Lovely, Richard. I thought the a99 and 70-400 was an unusual combo for discrete people shots

Some more landscapes from the Ponta de São Lourenço region in Madeira, Portugal. As you can see, it's one of my favorite regions on this little, wonderous island.

Great views of the volcanic landscapes, Mark. I like number 3 especially. It is great the way the line of the ridge leads your eye across the sea to the distant islands with their attendant clouds.

Re: Landscape 2014
Thank you Andy. I can see why you like it. I like the first two myself. If you look closely, you'll see people walking the path on the ridge of the cliff in the first image. I walked there myself but didn't see the beauty of that rockface until I came on the opposite side, which you can see in the image.
I like the second because of the shapes the sulphur made ages ago in the rock. Only this relatively tiny spot had them. The rounded curves of the rocks are such a contrast to all the sharp edges of the iron stone an lava made.
I guesa you had to be there to know what I'm rambling about. The fate of landscape photography I guess.

Mark,
Fabulous set and what a contrast. Volcanoes on one side and lush tropics on on the other.
Only time I have seen that stark contrast side by side is on Maui Island atop Haleakala. The
Lee ward side is lush tropic of Hana and the windward side looks like a desert you see in
spaghetti westerns.

That's what made us decide to go to the island a second time. I'm a fan of the barren lands, the missus for the lush, sub-tropical forrests.
Re: Landscape 2014
You did a great job of capturing the steepness in that last shot. Looks like a place I need to visit sometime.

A little cascade on Lake Creek in the Bighorn Mountains here in Wyoming.

Little Creek in Big Horn... A tripod shot? Very nice composition. I like how the water leads me to the back of the landscape.

Thanks Sury. No it's not a tripod shot. It was a "lay down on my stomach with the camera pressed against the rock" method.
Here's a couple more from that hike. This unamed lake was our final destination. It is around 10,600 feet.

Well, in photography ends justify means, as long as means are not illegal, unethical and immoral.the_hefay wrote:Thanks Sury. No it's not a tripod shot. It was a "lay down on my stomach with the camera pressed against the rock" method.

I love the first one - the unnamed lake.
