Wow - I love both of those. The pure white and blue are great together and I like the black bird almost hidden amongst the branches.

Thanks! The black bird shot turned out better than I thought it would. When the fog lifted the sky was a very bright blue with no haze.

Harsh reminder of the weather, Jeff. As Andy said, I really liked the second one.
A simple visual statement of co-existence in nature/Nature.

Ken, nice capture of the belt of Venus. I walked outside and was taken in with the way the low sun was hitting the snow. However, the sun was setting so fast, that by the time I got back out with my camera the scene was completely different. Anyways, here's a groundhog's view of the sunset. The a100 and the 11-16mm.

Great shots Jeff and Barry. Here is one from Alaska. The somewhat elevated green berm you see is the train track that
goes from Anchorage to Seward. What that berm did was to create a barrier to the fresh water flowing into Turnagain arm
http://www.alaska.org/guide/turnagain-arm-drive. Consequently the barrier created a fresh water marsh that
became home to very many birds. Here is one example of progress creating a new opportunity for Nature to nourish.

Chugach Mountain (I think).
