In an earlier life I had about 50 matted and framed prints on the wall -- all made from 35mm slides/negatives (old-style optical prints since this was in the early to mid 1990s and before scanning). In a later life in a different house and a different state I had about the same number of prints on the wall, but some of those were made from scanning slides/negatives. In a condo I still own, but don't live in, I have about 20 prints on the wall -- all made from 6mp digital cameras or scanned slides/negatives. The largest are 12x18 inches. I like the ability to crop when necessary and if the mp and the lens quality allows it then that is fine with me. If not for cropping then the A700 and 12mp is usually just fine for me. If digital cameras stopped at 12mp then I would be fine with it, but there is no sign that is going to happen though since even on APS-C there are already 14 and 15mp bodies.
Agreed. Improve it all! Having said that, except for a few relatively minor firmware bugs (or brain dead design), I am pretty happy with the features, performance, etc. on the A700. The A700 is the first DSLR I have owned that I could say that about. Although not a real big thing for me, I wouldn't mind having a pretty good LV like in the A300/A350 if the OVF was not compromised much.Please...We need work on the system, features, and performance..not more MP crammed on small noisy sensors!
