I am new to this forum and all I can say is wow Sonolta. If you think Nikon or Canon will make you a better photographer go out and buy what you want or think you need. The less time and effort you spend arguing about equipment the more time and effort you can spend creating great images. All cameras can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE the picture to get a great picture. The camera is only a tool.

My friend/assistant has the 5DII (yeah, my assistant has a "better" camera than me...) so I had the chance to shoot video myself with the 5DII, that's why I'm telling you that it is a limited Video mode -but it is better than nothing

I just showed you almost 50 videos that show you why the video is good enough for me! Nobody said one camera is better than the other. The 5DMkII is obviously more versatile!

Don: I don't have time for watching the hundreds video links you post. I don't really care. I just care about what I can do. I played with the 5DII and I know what I can do with it. It's ok and I hope Sony will bring their version of a DSRL Video capable this year -let's hope by the Photo Plus Expo.

But, talking stills, I prefer what I got from the A900 than the pics I took with the 5DII -this is just a matter of taste, I'm not comparing performance or so.

I don't shoot high Iso, no more than 800 ASA. Not my style (I'd learn how to work with flashes long time ago) even if some times customers ask me for that kind of photography - what they call "available light photography": just a trend IMHO

BTW, PopPhoto complains about 5DII AF performace, they said Canon didn't upgrded the 3 years old 5D module, that was already slow.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I am thinking Nikon.

I spoke with the Sony rep this pm at the store. Of course, he didn't know anything about what's coming: the guys from the headquarters run the company their way, and we know their way... but for once, he told me something smart: Nikon and Canon just came out with a first generation of Video-DSRL, with all their limitations. As they did with LV, Sony will answer with a good idea. I am not necessarily a fanboy if I trust the brand I choose. I do trust Sony, but I know that we have to tell them what they aren't doing right. Denial people like some of your friends at DPR don't help at all.

Please LOOK at these...this is why I do not need anything better at the moment!

Get a clue....it ain't a trend it's REALITY! Look at every review and every camera built recently! Geesh, pull your head from the sand! It's not about only available light! It's about greater DOF! It's about faster shutter speeds! Geesh, get a clue on what good high ISO can do for you!

I don't! Broken a700 in 11 months! Noisy as hell A100! A100 that attracted bits and dust in the finder and LCD like it was going out of style! Recalled Sony sensors in my 7HI, s414, and xT not to mention the raw watercolor debacle. No movies yet, no liveview uprange yet, all Sony has to offer is Minolta's AS which Sony calls SSS!

Just a couple of things:
I do have a clue about trends: I have color corrected 135 563 images (dixit our system controller) the past 4 weeks, that weren't the busy season; and 2 087 773 in the past 18 months, plus a couple of customers that don't pass thought that system, but I won't count them even if that means about 4500 more pics a week, because they have the same style.

If you don't trust Sony, WTF are you doing shooting with Sony equipment? after all, they came with a solution for noise and watercolors on the A700. I have all the cameras (or equivalent) that you have and I haven't had any mayor problem with them: no recall for the 7Hi, nor for the Dimage A2, no FBF on my 7D, no A700 failure at all...

Because I'm a really stupid little git, I read the LL article as a thinly veiled denouncement of Canon's terrible quality control, and as permission to shoot an A900 underwater without a housing, if I so desired. Previously I had put Sonolta into the killfile, but Thank God some of you quoted him back so I could see the error of my ways.

All my Sony stuff is now for sale at Sonolta's house. Call him for prices.
