I was able to shoot something that's relevant for this thread today.
Maybe you heard of "Döner", a sort of kebab that is popular among many.

Great shots! Yes, I have eaten döner aka shawarma many times in various places, such as Vancouver, Egypt, Greece, etc. Even one time in Tokyo.

A week or two ago I read in the newspaper that a shop had been opened on the U.S. Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton, California because Marines returning from serving in the Middle East had a hankering for it. My recollection is that an Iraqi woman and her Marine husband opened the shop.

By chance I had lunch today in a Southern California fast-food restaurant that serves this - and that is what I ordered, along with some vegetables and some humus. I had eaten there originally at the suggestion of one of my co-workers who is from Lebanon, and have gone back several times since then. When I found myself in the area at lunch time today, I could not resist going there again.

Bakubo, as you said already döner is popular in this part of the planet and thanks to families and those that love it has already earned itself a place among fast-food chains.

There is a place about 2 blocks from me in Vancouver that sells shawarma. It is just a window on the street and people line up on the sidewalk to buy them. The smell is fantastic! There are many others around downtown Vancouver, but because this one is open to the street the smell fills the area and I am hungry everytime I walk by.

I wish you visit Lebanon some day. It's a wonderful country/place/people/food and everything else.

That was the opinion of my wife's father. Many years ago, he was an airline pilot for Saudia who kept an apartment in Beirut - which he called his favorite city. He said that he considered the civil war in Lebanon one of the great tragedies of his life, and hoped that he would live long enough to see the country recover from it.

Now, these are some cheerful photos! Very good shots both from Egypt and Mexico City...
In Turkey, they use all kinds of bread types for shawarma/döner and it's also served on plate as part of an other kebab dish. The variety only depends on the imagination and how customers like their servings; wrapped, in pita, in sandwich bread, with yogourt on top on a plate...and more.

It was interesting for me to find that the people who serve it are in similar work clothes almost in every country.
