Thanks Harvey. It turns out that only two forums had this set (not that I ever set it!) - I have now enabled it for all forums, so Active Topics should return. I think...

Still only two threads on the Active Topics link. :(

Not fixed yet. What version change was made to phpBB? I can do some web searches to see if I can come up with other suggestions.

Not sure if this is relevant but it seems there are two places for a setting: Category and Forum. See these posts, particularly the first two entries.

A lot of people had trouble from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6.

OK, I have changed the parent categories into Forums instead of Categories. Active Topics is definitely enabled at all levels. But it still isn't working.

Why not just use New Posts? That's where my tab aims for opening the Forums.

At the moment I am swapping between VNP and searches.

View New Posts depends on cookies so if you clear the cookies periodically then the list is empty. I cleared my cookies this morning. The only way to find this thread again was to search for it.
VNP and View Unread Posts don't show you recent active topics that you might want to revisit even if you have previously seen the latest posts.

I hope this can get fixed. I'll post here so that I can get an email to tell me if someone updates this thread with some good news.

I don't use the feature as I prefer to filter the posts I see with the forum structure.
The new layer in the structure makes it more difficult and discourages the practice, Was that the intent?

The intent was to class the headings as forums not categories, to see if this forced the Active Posts to work. Well, it doesn't. I will revert.

I tried View active topics a couple of minutes ago and it now shows 4 posts. Better than a few days ago, but still not working. Any updates on this issue? I guess the new software is just buggy. I hope they release a new version soon.

I sure hope a new version of the forum software gets released soon that has this bug fixed. I miss a lot of stuff here since these days I generally only come when I get an email that says someone has replied to a thread I have posted in. I miss the old days. :)

Whenever there is an update, I'll install it. I can't understand why this one module behaves so erratically. I have never used it, I just use the overall view with the hot buttons for all new posts.

I have tried that several times, but compared to the View active topics method it is not nearly as good for me. With View active topics I can immediately see what the most recently updated threads are in order (I have it set for most recent at the top) and I don't have to drill down into each individual subforum to find out which thread has been updated. Since some threads I have no interest in I like using View active topics the best. It makes the forum look like the dpreview forum. It used to work fine and I hope someday it will again. :)

I just noticed something strange. View unanswered posts, View unread posts, View new posts, and View your posts all appear to be working. Unfortunately, View active topics still does not work.
