I wonder if we should also take into account the unusual colour scheme (for a Pigeon), it's very similar in style too a Seagull with the addition of the 'trendyboots' of course, Mother Seagull may associate Trendyboots with being a 'regal' type of Seagull rather than with being a normal Pigeon, and giving Trendyboots the respect her exaulted station demands.

There's a good science-fiction scenario potential in those thoughts, Greg!

All hypothetical of course, they might just be good friends....maybe I have missjudged Seagulls after all....a little.

I personally would say that, the seagulls can determine and distinguish their own species pretty quickly. The colour scheme can be misleading but that's the human brain in works and we don't know just how many other particularities are questioned by the seagulls before they 'think' they actually have an other seagull in front of them.

There are no other light coloured pigeons or birds around here for me to test this 'colour scheme theory'.
I looked through Wikipedia items and couldn't find one that resembles this pigeon's 'boots' but you may have a point there. Maybe the seagull has a regard for certain evolved body parts or plumage...needs further proofing. : ))

ps. I liked the bit about Fugnog becoming 'sane'

Yes! He is definitely saner now! He once thought that mother, father, roof tiles, insulation paddings around the chimneys and the rest of the Universe was his for the taking... Now he thinks before he approaches and gives before he takes, after being 'kicked out' by the other parents, that is.

It was a humiliating and hard lesson for him. But he is better now... : ))

And of course, I know you won't believe me and you would be right to be suspicious...until the day all seagulls around the World changed ! : ))
