I agree it seems sluggish again tonight, though not as slow as thirty seconds per page load for me, I did notice if you're waiting a while for something too happen try clicking in the scroll area on the IE page scroll area, the page suddenly changes sometimes, for me anyway.

I cannot speculate about a reason, but I have NEVER had this problem. If I were to guess - and that is all that it would be - I would suspect a problem at your end, either with your computer or with your ISP.

Having said this, I have had a frequent problem with the board logging me off and requiring me to sign on again to continue using the "New Posts" capability. Of course, any system will do that after a long enough period of inactivity, but this board sometimes does it to me even when there is only 20-30 seconds between activity at my end. What is interesting is that it does not always happen, and that it only happens when using one of two different computers/ISPs through which I contact the board. It has never happened when using the other computer/ISP. I have absolutely no idea why there are occasional problems using the first computer/ISP.

Tom, you may be right. I don't think it is my computer unless it has the same problem as my old computer, my laptop and my daughter's computer. It must be the my ISP. If so, I can't do much about that.

It is strange that it only happens here. Maybe it's a browser thing? All four computers were running IE8.

I have had an awful time today with my printer's slow FTP and lousy connection. Eventually, after posting a CD to them, I decided to check my router. It was all fine, but I noticed there was a firmware upgrade for it.

So, I ran the upgrade. It has completely fried the router, which can not even be factory-default reset and now has no wireless connectivity and no ADSL, it's acting as an Ethernet hub but has lost all its functions. Since we have two ADSL connections and two wireless routers on the network, I was able to get the second one running - but it took me an hour or two, as the second one was not enabled as a DNS server (the primary one did that) and had to be set back to defaults before I could get into it and change the settings.

Good news, this second router (cheaper model, but later date, of the same NETGEAR make) is faster. Makes me think maybe the one which has been fried was not working correctly to start with.

This site is now instant - zap. So are most sites. Just a lot faster than before.
