I love the really shallow dof and colours in those, Henry

I took these with my A700 + Sigma 90mm f2.8 macro. No tripod. Minimum focus distance so 1:2 (to get to 1:1 you have to use the provided adapter). I wouldn't focus, I would move back and forth to get the portion of the flower I wanted in focus. Taken at f2.8 for minimum dof. I repeat: handheld.RareTA wrote:Those are just great! My wife likes flowers so she sometimes wanted to go to Koko Head on Oahu. Inside there are lots plumeria and other flowers. Not exactly my thing, but when we went and she was taking flower photos I would take a few too. These are just two of them. Usually it is breezy so the flowers are moving and I was swaying back and forth trying to keep the very shallow area of focus in focus. Timing is everything.

Not so soon! We have a raging blizzard going on right now. The two interstates and shut down as well as most of the other roads and we are not supposed to even drive in town. They declared a snow emergency and said to stay home. This is going to last all night and into tomorrow.

The fly shot is great!! May I ask what extension size you used? I bought a set of three macro extensions this winter. I also have a 90mm macro lens. I'm asking to learn what works best.
