Thanks, Birma. The light is usually very nice from about 6:00 PM at this time of year so I was walking around until after sunset yesterday.

All those coconut palms make it look very tropical Henry, speaking of which do they de-nut them often? a coconut dropping from 40ft is no joke. Nice sunset, very calm there at the moment. And what is that thing that's being pressure cleaned?

That looks like a lifeguard shack - a shelter from the sun for a beach lifeguard that is elevated about two meters to provide the lifeguard with a better view of the ocean.

We have very similar shacks on the beaches here in Southern California, which is not a surprise since the functional requirement is the same.

Yes, they do. The ones around the beach, parks, and sidewalks all are kept clear of coconuts. Actually, we have quite a few palms that are a lot taller than 40 feet. There is one next to a sidewalk about half a block from where we live that reaches up to the 11th floor of the condo building it is beside.

Last fall while in Nha Trang, Vietnam I was walking along the beach sidewalk one evening and suddenly heard a huge crash right behind me. I quickly turned and saw a big coconut rolling on the sidewalk only about 6 feet behind me. This thing came down on the sidewalk right where I had been 1 or 2 seconds before with a tremendous force. If it was to hit a person squarely on the head I have no doubt it would have killed them. Hitting a shoulder would definitely have broken it. There were coconut palms all over the place and I noticed that they all had big coconuts on them. I got off that sidewalk.

That is an elevated lifeguard shelter on the beach that he is cleaning.

This one is also late. Sunday night, very late, we had a storm blow though. Straight line winds from the south at 60+ MPH. This is from the oak tree on the south side of the house, but the Good Lord was looking out for us, and instead of falling on the bedroom, He directed it towards the east!

Hmm that scene reminds me of something Dusty. That was a stroke of good fortune alright, having the tree fall away from the house. Looks like your chainsaw will get some use after all, making some barbi wood.

Yes, you were really lucky it didn't fall on the house. I saw on the news a few days ago that they were having really strong winds in West Texas too and they had whipped up lots of wildfires.

Where it split it is over 24" in diameter. I've been working on it today, and will do more this weekend. Yes, it's giving my old Husky's a workout. Good thing I have that 28 inch bar!

Finally! It's actually snowing! : ))

We finally have the snow storm we waited for Istanbul on March 8th, 2011 !
Not as heavy as the ones in North America or other parts of the planet where everything is still icy but the wind's strong and the snow pretty consistent since morning.
Winter's snow comes in March here!

: ) Funny that the Weather Sites say 'rain' for Istanbul too but we knew it was going to snow from a week ago or so. There really is a very cold and strong wind outside right now.

If it snows in Yerevan, let's see what it looks like!

Brrrrr. Very cold looking, Yildiz. I especially like the first shot of the blizzard in front of your now iconic bridge . It was very chilly here this morning in Worcester (-5 degrees centigrade) but beautiful and sunny. I have some dawns shots to process - will be sharing later.
